The Ratex Users' Group Board of directors met in Philadelphia March 1-3, with members of RATEX Business Solutions.

We spent Friday at the office going over where Ratex is today and where it is heading with Jeff and Larry.

RBS is moving to new offices at the beginning of April.  The new space will give them more room for staff as well as a training room.  RBS plans to start offering classes on the various RATEX programs. It is in the budget to add another customer service person, which they will now have space for.

RBS has hired Dave Moreno.  Dave comes with a bookstore background, he worked at Stanford, Dave will be joining Mark and Ed in product development. Gary Swisher has also been working with RBS; he is working on the EDI initiatives.

RBS has been using Kevin Mayhew to do almost 100% of any custom work required by users.

RBS is in the process of implementing release 7.6, which has over 150 program fixes.  Ed Pen land is in charge of fixing bugs. The EDI piece is in this release.  Currently Ingram, Nacscorp, Thompson and the Automated Follett want list process are in place.  RBS hopes to add Pearson and McGraw-Hill to this soon.

Mark and Dave will be finishing up the computer module and RBS hopes to be able to show us the finished product in July at the conference.

RBS is happy with the ESP system and report that more users seem to be using it.   The oldest open support incidents are about six months old versus 18 months old last year at this time.

RBS is well aware that they need a web solution and are looking into possibilities for this.  Open AR is still on hold at this time.

We talked about the roll of the RUG Board.  As you have seen in the letter from Brent Ashcraft we came away feeling like there still was a purpose for the board and the group, our focus will just be a little different.  (See letter)

We spent the balance of the time planning the conference, which will be held in Vancouver, British Columbia from July 27th to July 30th.  You will be receiving your conference package and dues bill in early May.

We are in the process of creating a new survey to find out who is using what for software and hardware.  This survey will be available on line and we urge everyone to fill it out.  We hope to be able to print it out and bring copies for everyone at the conference if the response is good.

Martha Neal has asked us if we would like to have a RUG meeting at the CACS meeting.  What we have done is agreed to have someone available to informally meet with any RUG members who wish, this would be coordinated with RBS.

The board has put together a preliminary agenda for the conference and feels confident that it is a program you will not want to miss.  Hope to see you there.

Sincerely,

Kathie Deptula
Treasurer/Secretary
